| A new fixture, the Cotton Mill Express has been a monthly excursion, from January 2008
The first trip of 2008 was on the 12 January 2008 when Standard 76079 did the honours. The second trip of 2008 was on the 9th Feb, again 76079 did the honours. The third trip in March had to be cancelled in Yorkshire due to the landslip at Elland, so it did a circuit around Lancashire. The fourth trip back with a bang! (whoops sorry whistle) as it was a double header featuring LMS 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier & 76079. 45407 fresh out of overhaul ran over the Pennines with a stuck whistle & you could here it coming for miles, on this quiet Sunday morning. The fifth trip was on the 18th May and featured 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier The sixth trip on the 14th June again featured 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier The seventh run on the 26th July again had 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier The eighth run on the 27th August had a change in motive power, both 45407 & 76079 were in Scotland so 5690 Leander deputised, and due to a fatality on the line at Carnforth the special was over 1 hour late, and i was unable to see it, but thanks to Paul Hatton who has allowed me to use his photo The ninth run on the 25th October was again subject to engineering work and stayed in Lancashire |
